IDEAS at UCLA Family,

It is with a heavy heart that we sadly inform you of the tragic passing of two ideas at ucla alumni and pioneers in the movement for The DREAM act, Tam Tran and Cinthya Felix. These two amazing women are both examples of all that dreamers can achieve. They were both passionate leaders in the fight for the student immigrant rights. As trailblazers, Tam Tran and Cinthya Felix broke glass ceilings for undocumented students.

Through their advocacy efforts, IDEAS was able to build key relationships with allies, faculty and administrators. Their genuine love and dedication helped place IDEAS as a leading organization in the student movement.

Cinthya graduated from UCLA in 2007 with a degree in English and Spanish literature and was the first undocumented student to attend Columbia University’s School of Public Health. She dedicated herself to a goal of becoming a physician and serving her community.

Tam graduated from UCLA in 2006 with a degree in American Literature and Culture and was pursuing a Ph.D at Brown University. Tam was also a talented filmmaker, and her documentary about the plight of undocumented students, "Lost and Found", has gone viral throughout the immigrant-rights community and among allies.

Please join us today to commemorate their lives and accomplishments:

When: Monday May 17, 2010

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Felix and Tran family.

In Solidarity,
